Jamease McDonald has served as a speech language pathologist since 2011. She attended both Hampton and Howard Universities receiving an undergraduate degree from Hampton and master’s degree from Howard in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She’s worked across D.C. and M.D. as a school-based Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), an Assistive Technology Consultant and Early Interventionist and in Private Clinical Settings for children with complex communication needs. She chose to expand her skill set by moving to NYC where she was an Early Interventionist working in home health and Applied-Behavior-Analysis (ABA) based Early Learning Centers for children with Developmental Delays and Autism. During this time she was trained in JASPER (Joint Attention, Symbolic Play, Engagement, Regulation) play-based therapy and Parent Coaching before coming back to D.C. in 2019. Ms. McDonald is passionate about teaching each child the power of communication and educating staff/ parents on how to facilitate speech and language development in everyday situations. She believes in supporting the whole child and has worked with clients and families looking for speech and language solutions to support the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Expressive and Receptive Language delays, Articulation and Oral Motor speech concerns, Pragmatic Language/Social Skills, Play Skill development and more.  Ms. McDonald believes  collaborating and creating effective communication strategies with families is key to reaching communication goals! 

 

Ms. McDonald is married with a beautiful son; her family is her world and inspiration. She is on a mission to empower families with knowledge and resources to support their children with diverse communication needs. She is invested in seeing her clients grow and believes it is a privilege and an honor to serve the community in this unique way; cultivating the power of understanding and expressing language.
